UCF Thesis

Thank you for your kind attention. My name is Nils Taranger, and I am a senior film student at the University of Central Florida. I am also casting for a senior thesis project entitled "Couch Potato" directed by Jason Dyke for the University of Central Florida’s Bachelor of Fine Arts program in film.
Synopsis: Joe watches too much TV. One night, Joe’s couch swallows him up, transforms him into a potato and drops him into a cluttered couch world, where he sings and rolls his way back to his own world.
We are holding auditions this Saturday, September 12th, at UCF. If you are interested in auditioning, please email potatocasting@gmail.com with a headshot and resume, and a time that would be convenient for you between 12 noon and 3pm.

Potato Joe-
Age: 30
Male
Joe is a man in his late 20s/early 30s who watches entirely too much television. He is an unkempt ex-singer/guitarist with no lofty goals for the future, but to be entertained by the stories on his High-Definition TV. When he is swallowed into his couch and transformed into a potato, he must learn to take care of himself without the luxury of the arms and legs he has taken for granted. Through will-power and song, Joe finds something more valuable than being entertained: living life.
Sweet Potato Jo-
Age: 30
Female
Jo is around the same age as Joe and isn’t far behind Joe in hours-wasted-in-front-of-the-TV competition. She arrives halfway through Joe’s journey through the couch world and shares the last half of it, becoming an integral part of defeating the trash monster and escaping the couch world. She learns to face her fear of singing in front of people, which has held her back for so long.
Rasta Roach- VOICE TALENT ONLY - JAMAICAN ACCENT A MUST.

Gender: Either
Rasta Roach is a roach who feeds under the plentiful couch cushions. He is a catalyst in the change of the two potato people on which the bulk of the story focuses. He enjoys singing reggae and helping people reach their full potential using ‘tough love’.
