UCF Film

Thank you for your kind attention. My name is Nils Taranger, and I am a senior film student at the University of Central Florida. I am also casting for a senior thesis project directed by Jamie Hanson for the University of Central Florida’s Bachelor of Fine Arts program in film.

The short film is about a writer who converses with his childhood girlfriend about all the things on his mind distracting him from focusing on writing. Our tentative shoot dates are sometime between October 1-7.

We are holding auditions this Sunday, September 6th, in downtown Orlando. If you are interested in auditioning, please email me at jamiecasting@gmail.com with a headshot, and a time that would be convenient for you between 12 noon and 5pm.

Roles:

Mikhail-
Age: 25-35
Male
Any Race/Ethnicity
As a writer in his 30s, he is always analyzing things - his decisions, dreams, and desires. It is hard for him to find connections with people because everyone else seems caught up with the more superficial aspects of life. He wishes he could have been a beatnik in the 50's, or a Renaissance painter, or any other major artistic movement where artists alike came together to create something new and real. He doesn’t know whether to focus on the world’s complex issues or understand himself - he wonders if both are completely useless. He is an existentialist, but from an American’s perspective.

Anna-
Age: 14-18
Female
Caucasian
She was Mikhail’s girlfriend when they were young. Her 15 year-old self only exists in Mikhail’s mind as someone to talk to who understands him and is willing to listen to his rants and raves. She balances his serious, analytical side with her spunky and witty nature. She is full of energy, but knows how to be mature. Her goal is to help Mikhail get all his thoughts out so that he can write something. She still has a school-girl crush on him, but in most ways she is simply a younger sister to him.
